Did you know that just by living a more active lifestyle you can drastically reduce your need for prescription meds?
New findings regarding health are making the headlines daily — and fitness and wellness are found to be more inextricably linked to your overall health than ever.
Those who suffer from high blood pressure please read on for the latest news about how you can reduce your need for blood pressure meds.
The American Heart Association Joint Hypertension 2018 Scientific Sessions were just in… session, and they revealed the latest and most recent advances in hypertension (another name for high blood pressure) research. This session revealed a lot of what most of us probably already know — that lifestyle modifications (like changing our diets and exercising daily) significantly decrease a patient’s need for blood pressure-lowering prescription medication.
Big Pharma might not be a fan of these findings. Researchers for the Scientific Sessions, in the end, found that only 15% of patients studied who changed both diet and exercise habits needed antihypertensive medications (commonly prescribed for high blood pressure). This is compared to about 23% in the group who had only made changes in their diet.
Whether or not lifestyle modifications can be helpful to patients with higher risk of cardiovascular disease remains to be seen through future studies. Visit the Ryan Shephard DO website for more information regarding this matter as well as healthy lifestyle implementations you can make that will help you avoid health troubles down the road.
